  1. First off, this tripod does not have a fluid head – so no, it’s not ideal for video where you need to pan around a lot. But if you need to pan, the side to side action will be much more smooth than up and down. It is great for stationary video or photography, especially where you need some extra height. The legs are steady and so is the center extension – even at full height. Works great at conventions or workshops – you can set the camera high enough so no heads will walk or stand in front of your shot. It is also high enough to reach over most other standard tripods – once again to help get a clear shot. The head locks down tight with three separate mechanisms – one for each axis. The crank for the center extension is plastic but solid and well constructed. The teeth on the center extension are made of metal for added durability. The camera attachment for the head has a metal bolt and metal butterfly to hand tighten onto the camera. Overall, this tripod is solid, well constructed and very affordable. I would definitely buy again, but it seems this one is going to last for a long time.

Definitely a case of you get what you pay for…

Very difficult to lock down the head and probably not recommended for heavier cameras for that reason. Head is NOT smooth, at all.

Unless you need the height I’d find something else.

I understand that in the world of videography you get what you pay for and so is the case with this product. Love the bubble levels, but the head is a little cheap if you are wanting to do serious work. Also love how tall you can make it. This feature really helps with getting new perspectives.

This is my first tripod, and I am not a professional. I bought this for home use for a snapshot camera and video camera. Works great and is easy to use.

  5. I needed a new tripod, so after much consideration i went with this one. so far it is a good buy for the price. It is fairly solid but a little flimsy. I have used it with my canon rebel xsi and my small sony hard drive cam corder. it works well with both. I’m not sure how i feel about the removable base though. All in all it’s functional and for the money i would recommend it if you don’t want to break the bank.
